Mediation

Not every family law dispute needs to end up in court. Mediation offers a different path—one that’s often faster, less expensive, and far less traumatic for everyone involved.

What Is Mediation?

Mediation is structured problem-solving with a neutral third party. It’s not litigation. It’s a process where both sides work together to reach an agreement that works for your family.

Most family law issues can be mediated:

  • Divorce settlements
  • Custody and parenting schedules
  • Child support
  • Alimony
  • Property division
  • Modifications to existing agreements

You can bring your attorneys or come without them. Either way, the goal is the same: find solutions that work for you—not a judge.

Why Choose Mediation?

Here’s the truth: when you go to family court, you’re handing control to a judge who doesn’t know your family. Mediation lets you shape your own outcome.

Mediation often means:

  • Lower costs than traditional litigation
  • Faster resolution (weeks instead of months or years)
  • More control over the final agreement
  • Less stress and conflict for your children
  • A private, confidential process
  • Flexible scheduling that works for both parties

Mediation isn’t right for every case, especially when there’s domestic violence, abuse, or extreme power imbalances. But when both parties are willing to come to the table in good faith, it can be incredibly effective.

My Role as Your Mediator

I’m a certified mediator in Maryland and serve as a Settlement Officer with the Carroll County Circuit Court. I also conduct private mediations for families in Carroll County, Baltimore County, and Howard County.

My job isn’t to take sides. It’s to facilitate conversation, clarify your options under Maryland law, and help you move toward resolution, whether that’s a divorce settlement, custody arrangement, or parenting plan.

As a mediator, I make sure each person has a chance to speak, to be heard, and to hear each other. The focus is always on finding practical, forward-looking solutions.

Is Mediation Right for You?

If you’re tired of the fight and ready to explore a different approach, mediation may be worth considering.

Even in contested cases, mediation can help you reach an agreement on some or all issues before trial. And for many families, it offers a path that prioritizes your family’s future over courtroom conflict.

Not all cases are appropriate for mediation, and mediation doesn’t replace legal representation. But for families willing to engage in good-faith negotiation, it can change everything.

I represent clients throughout Carroll County, Baltimore County, and Howard County, Maryland. From your first filing through your final decree, I’m here to help you move forward.
